Charlotte Giese

Charlotte Giese holds a position as Special Consultant at the Danish Film Institute (DFI). She has initiated cultural exchange programs around the world. In 1998 Charlotte established the Cinema Culture / Children & Youth unit at DFI. She has a university degree in communication and sociology.

In the Last Days of the City

Synopsis
Downtown Cairo, 2009. Khalid, a 35-year-old filmmaker, is struggling to make a film that captures the soul of his city while facing loss in his own life. With the help of his friends, who send him footage from their lives in Beirut, Baghdad and Berlin, he finds the strength to keep going through the difficulty and beauty of living In the Last Days of the City.

Ouroboros

Synopsis
Ouroboros is acclaimed visual artist Basma Alsharif's first feature film. This experimental film is an homage to the Gaza Strip and to the possibility of hope based on the eternal return. The film follows a man through five different landscapes, upending mass-mediated representation of trauma. A journey outside of time, marking the end as the beginning, exploring the subject of the eternal return and how we move forward when all is lost.

In rural Afghanistan, people are storytellers who make up and tell each other tales of mystery and imagination to explain the world in which they live.The shepherd children own the mountains and, although no adults are around, they know the rules; they know that boys and girls are not allowed to be together.

Camouflage

Synopsis
Camouflage tells the story of a forbidden friendship blossoming in a secret garden in the city where the East meets the West. This animated short inspired by Ottoman Miniatures and Hieronymus Bosch takes the audience to a mysterious and surreal world which is a reflection of the director's reality.
