Lebanon Wins the World Cup is a documentary short film about war and football, told against the backdrop of the 1982 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. It tells the story of two former enemies, a bookish Communist guerrilla and a battle-hardened Christian who share a love for the Brazilian team despite fighting each other in the Lebanese civil war.

Born in 1981, Tony is an up-and-coming Beirut-based filmmaker. After completing a Masters in film studies, ElKhoury forged his skills directing and shooting music videos for international and local artists such as NY-based music producer Nickodemus, Lebanese composer Ziad Rahbani, Canadian band Wake Island and Beirut’s singer-songwriter Oak.
Anthony Lappé is a New York-based author, producer and director. He began his career in journalism as a freelance contributor to The New York Times and a producer for MTV News & Specials. He went on to produce the award-winning Showtime documentary about the Iraq war, BattleGround.
